Pure Joy

"Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters,whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance." James 1:2-3

25 years of abuse, of being used, accused and lied to

has been transmuted to: pure joy, pure joy in the end

Because I am a Christian

Because I consider Christ

my savior and my friend

and I would face the wicked

endure all the suffering again

if more souls are saved by it

I found the way out

I never lost sight of His truth and His light

He gave me cancer as a blessing

to keep me safe from rage displaced

and now I see the cancer is: pure joy, pure joy in the end

He took my hearing from me

so I couldn't hear my own vanity

or wander lost in the world of dense things

and become one with carnality.

So my listening was on reserve for His purposes alone

to bear witness to the pain of others and forget about my own

and so my deafness is: pure joy, pure joy in the end
